Abstract

Experiments were conducted at the farm of Faculty of Agriculture,
Shebin Elkom and laboratory of Economic Entomology and Agricultural
Zoology Department to study the eriophyid mites associated with three
vegetable plants, five fruit trees, and two ornamental plants during the period
from 2013/2015.
Ecological studies:
Ecological studies were performed for two successive seasons as follow:
1. Incidence studies indicated that 11 species of eriophyid mites belonging to
7 genera, both tomato and eggplant were infested with high number of
Aculops lycopersici; artichoke plants with Eriophyes neocynarae; while fig
was infested with Eriophyes ficus. As for fruit trees mango infested with three
species, Aceria mangifera (High number), Meticulous mangifera (moderated
number); and Cisaberoptus kenyae (High number); guava was infested with
Eriophyes pyri while Aculus schelechtendali infested apple trees; citrus trees
were infested with Phyllocoptruta oleivora with low number. As for
ornamental plants, rare number of Eriophyes daturae infested Duturae plants,
while albarnov was infested with high numbers of Aceria dioscoridis.
2- Population dynamics of eriophyid mite cleared that the lowest number of
Aculops lycopersici was during April while maximum numbers were at the
end of July, an eggplants lowest numbers were during March and the highest
at mid of July. Eriophyes ficus average number was the lowest during the
period from 30 August to the end of April, while the highest numbers were at
the mid of July. Numbers of Meticulous mangifera were low during the period
from January to April, while high numbers were collected during August,
September and October months. Cisabroptus kenyae infested mango with
high numbers, its maximum average numbers were during the period from
mid November to mid December. guava trees eriophyid mite.
