Abstract

This study was carried out at the Research farm (El- kawthar Experimental Farm), Faculty of Agriculture, Sohag university, Sohag, Egypt during seasons 2014/2015 and 2015/2016. Four potato cultivars i.e., (Sponta, Brn, Oceania and chara) were obtained from Agriculture Research Center, Giza Egypt to study the effect of three levels of nitrogen (NH4NO3; ammonium nitrate 33.5%) and potassium (K2SO4 potassium sulphate 50%) fertilization on these potato cultivars under Sohag conditions. It was many of the qualities study as follow:
- Sprouting ( percentage ) - Plant height (cm) - Number of Branches /plant
- Plant fresh weight ( g ) - Number of Tubers / plan - Tuber Yield /plant ( g )
- Average tuber weight ( g) - Average tuber length (cm) - Average tuber diameter (cm
- Total Yield (ton/ fed) - Dry Matter (percentage) - Potassium (percentage)
- Nitrogen (percentage) - Starch (percentage) - Total carbohydrate ( percentage ) - Protein ( percentage )
The most important traits can concluded as follow:
1- There were significant differences among the the four cultivars under this study.
2- There were significant differences among the levels of fertilization under this study.
3- There were significant differences among most of studied characters under this study.
4- from my own views the cultivars (Chara and Oceania) were earlier in this trait than (Sponta and Brn) cultivars, but the statistical analysis Results indicated that there were not significant effect between cultivars on sprouting (percentage) in both seasons. The cultivar Oceania gave the highest value in this trait. On the other hand there were not significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best level of fertilization in this trait was the first level. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar Oceania with the third level of fertilizer
5- Result indicated that there were significant effects from the cultivars on plant height (cm) in both seasons. The cultivars Sponta gave the heights value in this trait. On the other hand there were significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best level of fertilization in this trait was the second level. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar Sponta with the second level of fertilizer
6- Result conducted that there were significant effect from the cultivars on number of branches per plant in both seasons. The cultivar Brn gave the highest value in this trait. On the other hand there were significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best level of fertilization in this trait was the third level. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar Brn with the third level of fertilizer
7- Result conducted that there were significant effect from the cultivars on plant fresh weight(g) in both seasons. The cultivars Oceania gave the heights value in this trait. On the other hand there were significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best level of fertilization in this trait was the third level. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar Oceania with the third level of fertilizer
8- Result conducted that there were significant effect from the cultivars on number of tubers per plant in both seasons. The cultivars Brn gave the highest value in this trait. On the other hand there were significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best level of fertilization in this trait was the second level. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar Brn with the second level of fertilizer.
9- Result conducted that there were significant effect from the cultivars on tuber yield per plant (g) in both seasons. The cultivars chara gave the heights value in this trait. On the other hand there were significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best levels of fertilization in this trait were the second and the third levels. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar chara with the third level of fertilizer
10- Result conducted that there were significant effect from the cultivars on average tuber weight (g) in both seasons. The cultivars chara gave the heights value in this trait. On the other hand there were significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best levels of fertilization in this trait were the third and the second level. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar chara with the second level or the third of fertilization in both seasons.
11- Result conducted that there were significant effect from the cultivars on average tuber length (cm) in both seasons. The cultivars chara gave the heights value in this trait. On the other hand there were significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best levels of fertilization in this trait were the third level. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar chara with the third level of fertilization.
12- Result conducted that there were significant effect from the cultivars on average tuber diameter (cm) in both seasons. The cultivars chara gave the highest value in this trait. On the other hand there were significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best levels of fertilization in this trait was the third level. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar chara with the third level of fertilization.
13- Result conducted that there were significant effect from the cultivars on total yield (ton/fed) in both seasons. The cultivars chara gave the height value in this trait. On the other hand there were significant effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer levels on this trait, and the best level of fertilization in this trait was the third level. The result indicated that there were significant differences among all the interaction between the cultivars and the fertilization level and the highest interaction value was when applied the cultivar chara with the third level of fertilizer.
14- Result conducted that there were significant effect from the cultivars on dry matter (%) in both seasons. The cultivars Sponta gave the heights value in this trait.
