The 46 pregnant women were divided into two main groups: a- The pathological group which included 8 pregnant women who were diagnosed to have abnormal relation of their placentae to the internal os in the 2nd trimester & underwent follow up in the 3rd trimester (only two of them were diagnosed to have placenta previa in the third trimester and the remaining six pregnant women were excluded from the study) in addition to 18 pregnant women who were diagnosed to have placenta previa by transabdominal ultrasound , transvaginal ultrasound or both in the third trimester b- The control group which included 20 pregnant women who were diagnosed to have normal placenta as regard the relation to the internal os by transabdominal & transvaginal ultrasound. Examination was done by real time ultrasonography. Ultrasound machines were mainly Toshiba xario 200 & GE logiq P6.The frequencies of transabdominal probes were 6Mhz & 5Mhz for both machines respectively. The frequencies of transvaginal probes were 8 Mhz & 10Mhz for both machines respectively. |
