Abstract

One hundred and twenty healthy, one-day-old commercial broiler chicks (Hubbard breed) were used to study the pathological changes due to effect of ochratoxin (OTA) on the different organs of broilers among different experimental periods group (1) and to study the protective effects of biological detoxifying agent (New Pharma T-x) group (2) either or chemical detoxifying agent (Texisol) group (3) on the induced experimental lesions in different organs of broilers. The broiler chicks equally divided into 6 equal groups, each of 20 chicks. group (4): was given New Pharma T-x 1 ml/liter of drinking water). group (5): was given Texisol 1 ml/liter of drinking water. group (6): was kept as a control group. Ten chickens from each group were sacrificed on the 28th day and 36th days from the beginning of the experiment.
Our investigation revealed that the chickens received OTA showed depression, dullness, restlessness of the majority of the experimental chickens and frequent degree of anorexia. Only few cases showed diarrhea followed by emaciation, ruffled feather with paleness of comb and wattles with 20% mortalities. Macroscopically, pale in color, congested and swollen kidney with ureters distended with urates, 28 days PF OTA .After 36 days PF, it became paler and contain whitish urates deposits inside it. Microscopically, 28 day PF OTA, kidneys revealed focal replacement of the renal parenchyma with extravasated erythrocytes, focal lymphocytic aggregation in renal cortex was the most common lesion seen in all cases. Necrosis of the renal tubules.
