Abstract Two field experiments were carried out at the farm of Faculty of Agriculture at Moshtohor, (Toukh Directorate, Kalubia Governorate) Benha Univ. Egypt during the two successive growing seasons 2014 and 2015. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of nitrogen fertilization rates and foliar spray by some microelements (zinc, manganese and iron) on growth, yield and yield components of maize, (white single cross hybrid 2031 for Misr hytech Seed Int.,) as well as some chemical properties of leaves and kernels of maize. Each experiment included 20 treatments which were the combination of four nitrogen fertilization treatments and five treatments of foliar spray by microelements. The levels of these factors were as follows: A – Four nitrogen fertilization treatments 1- 40 kg N / fed. 2- 70 kg N / fed. 3- 100 kg N/ fed. 4- 130 kg N / fed. Summary 142 B – Five microelements foliar spray treatments 1- Control (without microelements added)2- Zn So4 0.6 % (Zn). 3- Mn So4 0.6 % (Mn). 4- Fe So4 0.6 % (Fe). 5- Zn So4 0.2 % + Mn So4 0.2 % + Fe So4 0.2 % (Zn + Mn + Fe). Studied parameters: A- Growth characteristics: 1- Tasseling date. 2- Silking date. 3- Number of green leaves/plant. 4- Area of topmost ear leaf (cm2). 5- Leaf area/plant (cm2). 6- Leaf area index7- Stem diameter (cm). 8- Plant height (cm). 9- Ear height (cm). |
