Abstract
The goal of the present study was directed to evaluate and compare in vivo the clinical, microbiological, and immunological effect of one session SRP in adjunct with placebo gel , 0.5% AZM gel or oleozone gel in the treatment of moderate chronic periodontitis patients, and to monitor the periodontal healing after these therapies. Twenty four systemically healthy patients, their ages range between 35to 55 years old suffering from moderate chronic periodontitis were selected from the Periodontology clinic, Faculty of Dentistry, Tanta University to be enrolled in the current study. The deepest periodontal pockets in single rooted teeth were selected for treatment and monitoring. All patients received initial therapy of full mouth SRP carried out at one session (approximately 1.5 hour), with oral hygiene instructions (to refrain from chewing hard or sticky food, brushing near the treated areas, or using any interdental cleansing aids for two weeks).
