Abstract
The present work deals mainly with geology, mineralogy, geochemistry and genesis of gold mineralization and associated country rocks in Um Balad area. Different methods were used to accomplish this aim; these include detailed field work, petrographical and mineralogical studies as well as geochemical analysis of different rock samples (metagabbros, diorites, granodiorites and dykes) using XRF analysis and ICP_ mass spectrometry techniques. X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) technique has been done for some selected altered rocks to delicate the different alteration facies. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was used to confirm the existence of ore and gangue minerals; attached with EDX unit for semi-quantitative measurement for the elemental content.
