Abstract Mortierella alpina in combination with some plant oils (black seed oil, linseed oil, grape seed oil and safflower oil) on survival and fatty acid profile of enriched Artemia franciscana, count of some pathogenic bacterial species associated with A. franciscana in culture water. The study was also conducted to investigate the effect of the enriched A. franciscana on growth, survival and fatty acid profile of sea bass larvae Dicentrarchus labrax, count of some pathogenic bacterial species and histological characteristics of the gut of D. labrax larvae. The results showed that enrichment of Artemia franciscana with M. alpina or M. alpina - plant oils (black seed, grape seed, linseed or safflower) enhances survival and fatty acids of A. franciscana, and reduces the count of some pathogenic species (P<0.05). In addition, the best growth performance, survival and fatty acid composition were in D. labrax fed M. alpina – black seed oil enriched Artemia (P<0.05), without altering intestinal histomorphology. Moreover, M. alpina – black seed oil enriched A. franciscana reduced the count of pathogens in D. labrax gut (P<0.05). |
