Abstract
The study is concerned with the application of the Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) to the British poetry of the First World War (WW1) in an attempt to investigate whether poetic metaphors have as their cognitive basis the same conventional metaphors of everyday language and where, then, their poetic creativity lies.
