Abstract The purpose of this thesis is to study the plasma expansion in the atmosphere of Titan which orbits the planet Saturn. It was observed that the Titan loses about seven tons per day from its atmospheric composition. This study introduces a suggested explanation for this interesting phenomenon based on the plasma expansion approach. For this purpose, a suitable model of hydrodynamic fluid equations is assumed. With aid of suitable codes which are used to solve the basic equations numerically and investigating the effect of different plasma parameters, such as the density and temperature ratios, on properties of density, velocity, and electric potential profiles. It is found that the plasma expansion is affected by the positive ions densities, temperature ratios as well as the solar wind species (negative electrons and positive protons) stream temperature and initial velocity, in addition to solar wind densities. |
