Abstract

Neonates have little immunological memory and a developing immune system
with immature both innate and adaptive responses so, they are with increased vulnerability to different infectious agents Neonates admitted to NICU usually are exposed to different nosocomial infections which may be early onset infections presenting in the first 48 to 72 hours after birth
and late onset after 72 hours after birth Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) considered as the second most common cause of nosocomial neonatal infections in NICU, which defined as pneumonia occurring after 48 hours of mechanical ventilation diagnosed according to CDC requires a combination of clinical, radiological and laboratory data.
