Abstract This dissertation studies the televised terrorism strategy of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) against public opinion especially teenagers. This comes as a part of ISIS comprehensive psychological warfare campaign. The study mainly hypothesizes that fear of terrorism among teenagers will be positively correlated with the exposure to ISIS televised videos (videos produced and broadcasted by ISIS). The study includes two self-designed instruments. A content analysis instrument for ISIS televised videos and a survey instrument to measure fear of terrorist attacks among teenagers. Results show that ISIS used one or more psychological violence tactics in every video of the sample. Also, the results show a significant correlation between the exposure to ISIS televised videos and fear of terrorism among teenagers. Regarding the demographic variables, males indicate a significant difference of fear of terrorist attacks over females while there is no significant effect for major area of study, type of study and type of the university. |
