Abstract Rapid Growth of population beside the low economic status of the government and the citizens of Egypt caused a massive crisis on the housing sector. With the increasing of the number of population, the quantity of building supplies gradually raises, which leads to the concern of dwindling natural sources that produce materials or energy. Subsequently, the costs of building and the operating expenses of the houses will be raised. In this report, the first chapter discusses Low Cost Houses situation in Egypt and mention the modern technics of low cost houses. Then, the report discusses the role and the methods of using Recycled Materials in architecture and define the types of Recycled Materials in general and focus on the materials that exist in Egypt. Then, it reviews the define of Bio-climatic Architecture and mention its methods and strategies to apply in Egypt. Thereafter, the report present and explain an existing concept “Earthships” as an example of building Low Cost Houses using Recycled Materials with Bio-climatic Architecture strategies. Finally, the report summarizes the findings to present analytical model of building low cost houses in Egypt using recycled materials with bio-climatic treatments. |
