Abstract ABSTRACT Cervical-vaginal infections are one of the most common problems in clinical medicine. Gardenella vaginalis, Candidiasis and Trichomoniasis are responsible for 90% of the cases of diseases infectious origin. Other types that sexually transmitted like chlamydia trichomatis. The assessment of vaginitis should be performed by accurate history talking, clinical examination and other microscopic tests. The cytological diagnosis (Pap-smear) was used for screening of cervical cancer, in addition, G. vaginalis, T. vaginalis and C. albicans infections can also be easily diagnosed from cervical cytology, by identification either of the organism or of characteristic cytological cellular changes. In current study, 400 patients who are at reproductive period with cervical-vaginal infection. All patients were attending the gynecology, infertility and contraceptive clinics in Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital. History and clinical examination were taken from all patients, non lubricated vaginal speculum was inserted. The cervix, vagina, vaginal wall and fornices were carefully inspected for the presence of any pathological lesion, and then cervico-vaginal smear was collected. All slides are fixed in 95% concentrated alcohol which used for fixation. The results of Pap smear were done. Keywords: Pap-Smear |
