Abstract

Androgens are the group of hormones that are responsible for the development of the sex characteristic which affect the changes occurs during puberty and adolescence including facial and body hair growth besides the bone and muscle development. Testosterone is the major active androgen circulating in blood with powerful androgenic and anabolic effects known as steroid sex hormone. Boldenone is a modified form of testosterone. As boldenone is testosterone with an added double-bond between carbon atoms one and two. This bond causes the reduction of estrogenicity and androgenicity of boldenone. The use of boldenone is commonly known by athletes and bodybuilders as it improve the body appearance through increasing protein synthesis, particularly in skeletal muscle. Boldenonne has been used in the veterinary field especially in cattle as it improve the growth and feed conversion of cattle resulting in more efficient meat production.
