Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out at the Experimental Research Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University during the two winter seasons of 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 to investigate sowing dates and nitrogen fertilization levels effects on the performance of some durum (Triticumturidum ssp. Durum Desf. em. Musn) and bread (Triticumaestivum, L.) wheat cultivars split- spil-t plot desing with five replications was used in the two growing seasons. Three sowing dates, i.e. first and mid November and first December were assigned to the main plot, two levels of nitrogen, i.e. 95.2 and 190.4 kg/ha were allocated to sub- plot as ammonium nitrate (33.5%N) in two equal doses, at sowing and 30 days after sowing (DAS). Four wheat cultivars, Sohag 3 (Egyptian) and Karim (Libyan) and two bread wheat cultivars Misr 1 (Egyptian) and Libyan (Casino) were distributed in the sub- sub plot.
