Abstract This study sought to analyze the dyadic relationships which take place in health care organization using as a framework the leader-member exchange relationships between nursing leaders and nurses and how these relationships translate into extra-role behaviors which called organizational citizenship behavior (discretionary helping behaviors) among nurses. LMX relationships can have a significant impact on each supervisor subordinate-dyad and the organization as a whole. An entire body of research has found that high quality LMX relationship was usually correlated with more healthy working conditions through; providing good supervision with immediate feedback, open communications between all health care team, and participation in decision making, role clarity, reduce conflict and job stressors and job stressors , and recently OCB. In the light of this leader-member exchange and organizational citizenship behavior are essential for the organization to continue to attract and retain nurses as it has a significant impact on the nurses` behavioral responses, such as stronger organizational commitment job satisfaction, job performance, and prevent turnover. |
