Abstract

Introduction: The increasing prevalence of obesity over the last few years with its known associated several chronic diseases including physical, emotional and social problems make obesity the biggest risk factor for early mortality.
Briatric surgery has included a large number of operative procedures some of which became extinct e.g jeujenoileal bypass, while others continue to be performed successfully.
Aim of the Work: To highlight the update in revision of surgical procedures used in management of morbid obesity in case of failure weight loss after the primary procedure.
Summary: Morbid obesity is a worldwide serious health problem, prevalence is steadily rising to epidemic proportions. The reason why any given individual becomes obese are complex and related to genetic, environmental, and other factors.
Nevertheless, the associated increased mortality, medical morbidity and impairment of quality of life and social relationship conveys the increased global awareness of the seriousness of obesity as a health issue and promots a more aggressive attitude towards its management
Conclusion: Reoperative bariatric surgery comprises a multitude of procedures that differ in indications, types, and outcomes.
Accurate patient and procedure selection is of paramount importance, as is setting realistic expectations based on the particular clinical scenario.
More randomized controlled trials are necessary to establish unified criteria and algorithms to better select patients and procedures.
