Abstract Bovine viral diarrhea virus is highly contagious, affecting dairy and beef cattle leads to losses in animal wealth that leads to economic losses worldwide. It have two genotypes (genotype I & genotype II). Bovine viral diarrhea virus belongs to Family Flaviviridea, Genus Pestivirus that considered RNA viruses. Every genotype have two biotypes, cytopathic (CP) and non cytopathic (NCP) according to it’s ability to produce cytopathic effect on cell culture. Genotype I is further divided into 21 subgenotypes and genotype II is divided into 3 subgenotypes. Most infection with BVDV be in subclinical form. There is risk factor from using bovine serum as there is possibility to be contaminated with BVDV. It leads to possibility to contaminate the biological products derived from bovine serum which is used for cell cultures and subsequently contamination of virus stock in addition to biological products like vaccines. This current study directed to detect BVDV as a contaminant agent in some biological agents as (cell culture, serum, vaccines) using culture method, ELISA method and quantative real time PCR. Samples that were used consisted of 13 different vaccine samples variable between live and killed that used in farm vaccination, five different serum samples that used in cell culture. |
