Abstract

This study carried out at Neuropsychiatry Department - Tanta University Hospitals. The studied subjects were 30 stroke patients recruted from the stroke unit; and 15 healthy control subjects. Both patients and control subjects were age and sex matched and fall into two groups as follow: Patients Group: include 30 patients with first ever ischemic stroke. control Group: include 15 Healthy control subjects. All patients were clinically evaluated,brain computed tomography and had routine laboratory investigations and assessment of serum levels of NSE in all samples by ELISA. This study aimed to evaluate the role of neuron specici enolase a marker in - early diagnosis of acute ischemic stoke -early peredicition of short term outcome of acute ischemic stroke.
