Abstract

The present study was designed to investigate the changes in; hematological parameters, hemostatic markers, biochemical parameters and histopathological pictures induced by experimental administration of aflatoxin in the diet, garlic and curcumin which are administrated intragastically.
In this study, seventy male albino rats (180-200 gram) were used. Rats were divided into seven equal groups. All groups were reared in separated experimental room as following:
A- group 1; control group (C): served as a control and received distilled water intragastric daily for 6weeks.
B- group 2; aflatoxin-treated group (AF): received aflatoxins at a concentration 38 ppb in diet daily for 6 weeks.
C- group 3; curcumin plus aflatoxins-treated group (R+AF): received curcumin intragastric at a dose of 200 mg /kg B. wt. with aflatoxins at a dose 38 ppb in diet daily for 6 weeks.
D- group 4; garlic-treated group (G): received garlic via intragrastric route as a dose of 500 mg/kg B.wt for 6 weeks.
E- group 5; curcumin plus garlic-treated group (R+G): received curcumin intragastric at a dose of 200 mg /kg B. wt. with garlic at a dose 500 mg/kg diet daily for 6 weeks.
F- group 6; corn oil-treated group (CR): received corn oil intragastric at a dose of 2.5 ml/ kg B. wt. daily for 6 weeks.
G- group 7; curcumin-treated group (R): received curcumin intragastric at a dose of 200 mg /kg B. wt. daily for 6 weeks.
The experiment was continued for 6 weeks in all the treated groups. Samples included whole blood for Hematological examination, plasma for hemostatic markers and serum for biochemical examination. Also, tissue specimens for histopathological examinations were collected.
The following results were observed:
