Abstract

This research is mainly focused on the buckling behavior of the plate girders with corrugated webs under shear loading experimentally and analytically. The Minimum Potential Energy Method, which we use to perform the critical shear stress of the local and global buckling mode using the real boundary condition. A new formula is developed, which considers interaction among the various shear failure modes with exponent equal 5. The conditions of many of these tests are found to be inconsistent with the theoretical conditions assumed in deriving the shear strength formulas. The various formulas for predicting critical shear stress are then compared with selected test results. Geometric characteristics effect on failure modes and design charts for some corrugated webs with different dimensions based on the Modified interaction equation were presented.
