Abstract

Background: Giving every child the best start in life is crucial to reducing health inequalities across the life course. Well child visits have been shown to be of benefit. Well baby clinics or well child clinics as they are commonly known, deal with the total well being of children and family. Every year approximately 10 million children under 5 years of age die throughout the world. Objectives: The current study aimed at identification of the obstacles against utilization of a well baby clinic service and evaluation a newly established well baby clinic in term of attendance rate and job performance. Methodology: Interventional, effectiveness of quality of health care service study, this study was conducted in a primary health care unit in a rural area in Egypt (El Ghonimy village), an estimated duration of one year is set to accomplish the objective of the study, a sample of 185 mothers attending family health center before intervention and 185 mothers after intervention. Results: The current study revealed that there was an improvement in the rate of attendance to the well baby clinic by 21.1% at the age below 18 months. In addition to that there was an improvement in the rate of children attendance (2, 3, 4&5years) to the well baby clinic by 32.7%, 28.6%, 72.2%”&72.4% respectively.
