Abstract

Child and adolescent psychiatry is interested in the diagnosis,
treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of neuro-psychiatric and
developmental disorders as well as behavior disturbances during
childhood and adolescence.
Behavior is an important component in child psychiatry and its
assessment is essential. Child behavior problems are classified into
internalizing behavior problems which has increased risk of
depression, anxiety, and suicide & externalizing behavior problems at
increased risk factors for later juvenile delinquency, adult crime, and
violence
There are many types of instruments used to measure psychiatric
disorders in community surveys: checklists, highly structured,
interviews and semi structured interviews.
Child behavior checklist is one of the most important
instruments used in child psychiatry for assessment and diagnosis of
many disorders, as it is cheap, rapid, easily administrated and
effective tool in psychiatric assessment.
Certain properties are required for a checklist to be adequate
and useful. These properties include practicality, sensitivity to
change, variability, and interpretability. Reliability and validity are.
