Abstract

In recent years Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are used widly in many purposes and in various environments like military applications, environmental observation, area monitoring, smart homes, medical care and health monitoring, industrial applications, agricultural monitoring and transportation. WSN consists of large number of wireless nodes each of them consists of four modules: sensing, computing, communication, and power modules. The last one is an embedded battery with limited amount of energy and it is responcible for supplying other modules with the needed power to complete required tasks. This battery can’t be replaced or recharged in many applications due to the nature of the place it is put to. Thus, the main challange in WSN is to preserve the power of the battery as long as possible. Many approaches were driven for preserving energy in WSN one of them was topology control which modifies the topology of the network dynamically in order to save nodes’ energy and make the best use of each node, hence, prolong the network lifetime.
