Abstract The study investigated the effect of using a Cartoon- Based Computer Program (CBCP) on developing preparatory stage students’ English writing skills. The current study has a one group pre-post test design. A group of thirty preparatory students were randomly selected from one of Giza public schools, namely Al Faisalia School for girls. Students‘ age ranged from fourteen to fifteen years. To determine the most important writing skills to be developed through the cartoon based computer program a checklist was designed and validated by a jury of specialists. A pre-post writing test was developed and used to measure the range of change in relation to the writing skills. The cartoon based computer program was taught during the first semester of the academic year 2014-2015. The study results showed evidence that the cartoon based computer program had a positive effect on developing the study sample‘s functional English writing skills. |
