Abstract Congestive Heart failure (CHF) is currently one of the major public health problems, and its complex and progressive nature often results in adverse events, such as high rate of re-hospitalization and mortality, which could be reduced if there were appropriate self-care. Hence, the purpose of this study was to assess self-care behavior of patients with heart failure Subjects: Assessment of self-care behavior of sixty adult patients diagnosed with congestive heart failure grade I, II, III from both male and female aged between (18-65) years old. Data were collected at internal medicine department and cardiac clinics at Assiut University Hospital. Tools were collected for this study: Tool I: patient assessment sheet (Annex A): It was consisted of three parts: Part (1): Socio demographic data Part (2): Patient medical data Part (3): Assessment of patient knowledge Tool II: Heart Failure Self-Care Behavior Scale (HFSCBS) (Annex B). This tool was developed by (Artinian, Morris and Sloan, 2002) to assess the frequency of self-care behaviors. It includes three parts: Part (1): Request for help during the disease. Part (2): Adaptation to the disease. Part (3): Adherence to the non-pharmacological treatment. |
