Abstract Over the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) operating lifetime, the operating organization should examine PRI’s (Pressure Retaining Items) for possible deterioration so as to determine whether they are acceptable for continued safe operation or whether remedial measures should be taken. American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code, Section XI, ―Rules for In-service Inspection of Nuclear Power Plant Components‖, provides requirements for examination, testing, and inspection of components and systems. These rules require a mandatory program to assure adequate safety and to manage deterioration and aging effects. The aim of the present work is to develop a simple and easy way for preparing In-service Inspection (ISI) program. The work is achieved by collecting and arranging ISI requirements in ASME Section XI for Class One Components into a group of Logic Flaw charts (LFC’s). Then the LFC’s are divided into 11 modules. These modules are transferred into a specific platform (ISI-PWR, In-Service Inspection of Pressurized Water Reactor) in eight parts. The platform interprets directly the Code requirements and simplifies the inspection program development in a handy and user-friendly format. The developed platform has the advantages of avoidance of misinterpretation of the Code requirements and reducing the time required to prepare an ISI program. |
