Abstract Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II) , Cu(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Sr(II), Cd(II), Mg(II) and Ag(I) complexes of ligand(1) have been prepared and characterized by element analysis, IR, UV-Vis spectra, magnetic moment, conductances, 1H-NMR spectraand mass spectra, Thermal analysis (DTA and TGA) and ESR measurments. The analytical and IR data show that, the ligand behaves as neutral tetradentate or dibasic tetradentate. Molar conductances in DMF indicate that, the complexes are non-electrolytes. ESRspectra of solid Cu (II) complexes at room temperature show axial type (dx2-y2 ) with covalent bond character in an octahedral environment. Some complexes showed inhibitory activity agtainst hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG-2 cell line) compared with a standard drug (sorafenib) |
