Abstract Moringa oleifera is a highly valuable plant, distributed in many countries of the tropics and subtropics. It has an impressive range of medicinal uses with high nutritional value. The present study was designed to investigate possible ameliorative effects of hydroethanolic extract of moringa oleifera leave on paroxetine side effects in male rats. Experimental protocol: After one week of acclimatization, rats were randomly allocated into 4 equal groups each of 10 animals. 1- Control group: Rats received 0.5ml distal water orally by stomach tube once daily for 60 successive days 2-Moringa group: Rats received 400 mg/kg b.wt of moringa hydro alcoholic extract orally once daily for 60 successive days 3-Paroxetine group: Rats orally administered 10 mg/kg b.wt once daily for 60 successive days 4-Moringa+paroxetine group: Rats received moringa hydro alcoholic extract and paroxetine simultaneously at the same previously mentioned dose and period. Mortality, body weight and body weight gain of rats were observed daily throughout the whole experimental period. At the end of experiment, all rats were sacrificed and blood, testis,epididymis and seminal vesicles were taken for. |
