Abstract
Summary
This chapter introduces the required background for the related topics of our research.
VANETs with their characteristics are introduced. VANET network architecture
with its entities is presented. The three basic types of access technologies
for VANETs are explained with examples. Safety and comfort applications are introduced
with proposals. Security requirements, VANET attacks and proposals on
securing VANETs are presented. SOA basics and principles are explained. Breif
overview on replication in VANETs is presented. The next chapter will present more
details about these topics
