Abstract

This study was carried out at the Agricultural Research Station, El-Kharga, New Valley Governorate, Egypt. The objectives of this study were:
1. Calibrating and validating some ETo models under El-kharga conditions using lysimetric approach.
2. Modeling the impact of climate change on evapotranspiration (reference, wheat and sunflower ET) using some climate change scenarios under the New Valley conditions.
3. Calibrating and validating Cropping System Models CERES-Wheat and OILCROP-SUN of DSSAT 4.5 software under different irrigation regimes.
4. Estimating the impact of climate change on growth and yield of wheat and sunflower using calibrated and validated CERES-Wheat and OILCROP-SUN models under some climate change scenarios.
This study included three experiments; the first experiment was conducted on in-field lysimeter experiment. The second experiment was conducted on wheat. Meanwhile the third experiment was conducted on sunflower.
1- Lysimeter Experiment
In-field lysimeter experiment was carried out during three successive growing seasons 2012/2013, 2013/2014 and 2014/2015, to calibrate and validate of some ETo models using lysimeter under local conditions. As well as, estimate accurate ETo under current and future climate conditions. Therefore, this experiment was carried out in five steps:
• Preparing and planting lysimeter experiment.
• Comparison of ETo models with lysimeter observations.
• Calibration of 12 ETo models.
• Validation of ETo models.
• Estimating the impacts of climate change on ETo.
2- Wheat Experiment
A field experiment was conducted on wheat crop during the two winter seasons 2012/2013 and 2013/2014. This experiment included three irrigation regimes (25, 50 and 75% soil moisture depletion from the available water, ASMD) to detect the following objectives:
• Studying the response of growth, yield and evapotranspiration of wheat to different irrigation regimes.
• Calibrating and validating Cropping System Models CERES-Wheat of DSSAT 4.5 software under different irrigation regimes.
• Estimating the impact of climate change on evapotranspiration and productivity of wheat under A1 and B1 scenarios in 2025s and 2050s.
3- Sunflower experiment
A field experiment was conducted on sunflower crop during the two summer seasons 2013 and 2014. This experiment included three irrigation regimes (25, 50 and 75% soil moisture depletion from the available
