Abstract

The aim of this study is to measure the impact of applying the new trends such as ”Revenue Management” and ”Sustainability Management” on rooms division’s profitability at the touristic resorts in Sharm El sheikh City. To achieve this aim, a related review of literature was collected and divided into two main sections; first section clarified the elements, benefits and obstacles of Revenue Management application, second section clarified the pillars, benefits and obstacles of Sustainability Management application. Questionnaire form for each subject was designed and distributed to the investigated mangers at a random sample of the touristic resorts in Sharm El Sheikh City. A number of 15 questionnaire forms were distributed in each subject, but only 13 forms at the Revenue Management were valid for analysis with percentage of 87 %, while only 12 forms at the Sustainability Management were valid for analysis with percentage of 80 %. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22 for windows was used to analyze and compute the data of the questionnaires. Frequencies, Mean, Maximum values, Minimum values and Standard deviation were calculated from the analyzed Five-pointed Likert scale questions. Results of this study showed that the touristic resorts of study sample have applied the two trends and experienced an increase at the yearly profit between 10% and 15% at its’ room division thanks for Revenue Management, The study revealed that the touristic resorts in Sharm El Sheikh City that recently applied the Sustainability Management practices have registered a decrease in its yearly basis costs with percentage between 10% and 15%. the study revealed that the Human resources related variables such as Skills, Knowledge, Awareness and creativity are considered the major obstacles facing the implementation of ”Revenue Management” and ”Sustainability Management” at touristic resorts in Sharm el-sheikh City. Based on the results of the study a set of recommendations were proposed to help at maximizing the profitability at the touristic resorts through adopting the implementation of new trends such as ”Revenue Management” and ”Sustainability Management” as following : 1.To adopt the methods that help at raising the abilities and developing skills of the human resources who works at the field of Revenue Management and Sustainability Management such as providing more trainings and activate incentives policy. 2. To adopt the idea of spreading the awareness about the new trends by demonstrating its application benefits through holding meetings and conferences. 3.Touristic resorts should adopt the policies of environmental awareness among guests by involving them at the implementation processes. 4.A committee of revenue managers, sales managers, and information technology managers at hotels should work co-operatively to upgrade the existing Revenue Management Systems to be more effective and to meet all the operation’s needs.
