Abstract Objective: To determine the accuracy of three dimensional ultrasound compared to hysteroscopy in diagnosis of endometrial compression in fibroid patients undergoing ICSI. Method: An Observational cross sectional study was conducted on 138 fibroid patients. The patient age, parity, fibroid location and diameter were all recorded. Patient diagnosed before to have fibroid by 2 dimensional ultrasound then 3 dimensional ultrasound done comparing the result with the gold standard the hysteroscopy according to the FIGO classification system. Results: There was very good agreement between the 3 dimensional ultrasound and hysteroscopy as evidenced by a weighted kappa coefficient (κ) of 0.888 (95% CI, 0.836 – 0.940). Conclusions: Three dimensional ultrasound proved to be accurate as hysteroscopy in grading of fibroid, but it has the advantage of being (less invasive procedure, accurate, with few complications and contraindications, well tolerated, rapid and can be performed as outpatient setting with no need of analgesia or anesthesia). |
