Abstract The diagnosis of GISTs shows controversy regarding that although the diagnosis of GIST may be made by light microscopy, pathologists commonly employ a panel of IHC markers, including anti-CD34, smooth-muscle actin, desmin, S100 and c-kit, to confirm the diagnosis. However, making the diagnosis can be difficult for the c-kit negative cases and c-kit positive cases that exhibit the same morphological pattern of other mesenchymal tumors and also stain c-kit positive. The aim of this work was to compare between the immunehistochemical expression of DOG1 and C-KIT and their diagnostic efficacy in GISTs using the percentage ratio score and intensity score. |
