Abstract

The thesis contains three main chapters concerned with poly anthranilic acid, poly m-phenylene diamine and poly o-toluidine. The first chapter includes an introduction and a literature survey on pure and doped polyaniline derivatives with some transition metals. The effects of doping on the physical and spectral properties of the polymers were reported. the use of the doped polymers as precursors for the preparation of Nano sized metal oxides and the importance of chromium oxide nanoparticles were also presented. The second chapter is concerned with the experimental work. It involves the preparation of poly anthranilic acid, poly m-phenylene diamine, poly o-toluidine in their blank and doped forms in the presence of MnCl2, CoCl2, NiCl2 and potassium dichromate as initiator and dopant of chromium. the third chapter deals with the result and discussion, which includes the data obtained and the proposed polymeric structure of the doped polymers. The effect of inclusion MnCl2, CoCl2, NiCl2 and chromium on the spectral, thermal and optical properties of poly anthranilic acid, poly m-phenylene diamine, poly o-toluidine.
