Abstract In this study five completely edentulous male patients were selected from the outpatient clinic Prosthodontic Department, Faculty of dentistry, Ain Shams university. Patients were selected free from neuromuscular disorders, free from any tempro-mandibular joint disorders and class I Angle’s ridge relationship. For each patient two complete dentures were constructed, in the first denture the teeth were set according to the lingualized concept of occlusion and in the second denture the teeth were set according to the monoplane concept of occlusion. The strain induced in the lower complete denture was measured by using electrical resistance strain gauge. A strain gauge was installed buccally in area between the second premolar and the first molar in each lower denture. During measurement the patient was instructed to bite on 1 cm3 cube of carrot, banana and peanut. The results were recorded, collected, tabulated and statistically analyzed. |
