Abstract ICSI has revolutionized the treatment of infertilitywhereverpsychological impacts and coping strategies is a key factor in couplesundergoing ICSI.This study aimed to assess psychological impacts and coping strategies among couples undergoing ICSI. A descriptive design was utilized in this study in the Assisted Reproduction Unit, international Islamic center for population studies and research, AI-Azhar University; Cairo, Egypt. APurposive sample was used of (l 00 couples) Undergoing ICSI in selected unit. Three tools were used to collect the needed data; Socio-demographic characteristics questionnaire, Arabic DASS, andCoping Strategies Questionnaire.Resultsof the present study revealed that more than half of infertile couples had primary infertility.the majority of couples had psychopathological impacts,they used Strategies as Social support, Problem solving techniques and avoidance more than treatment dropping out strategy Conclusion:psychopathological impacts are over prevalent than expected especially among secondary infertility couples. So Results of the present study recommended that, counseling program for ICSI team about how to deal with infertile couples (especially among secondary infertility couples) and its effect on them should be applied. |
