Abstract Mycobacterium tuberculosis (T.B) is a widespread and fatal infectious disease caused by various strains of mycobacteria, usually mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is an airborne infection. T.B could affect many organs of the body when affecting lungs, it is called pulmonary T.B and when affecting other parts of the body, it is called extrapulmonary T.B. other organs which may be affected by T.B. include pleura, central nervous system, lymphatic system, the genitourinary system, bone, joints and skin (Kumar, et al; 2007). |
