Abstract

The general contents of this thesis are presented in five chapters that are de-voted to present, definitions and basic concepts, studies on the odd generalized exponential family of distributions, the Kumaraswamy flexible Weibull exten-sion distribution, the bivariate odd generalized exponential linear failure rate distribution and conclusion and further extensions. Chapter 1. In this chapter, the basic definitions and main concepts of statistical distribution are reviewed. Some important concepts of reliability theory are also reviewed. The most common techniques of estimation namely, moment method estimate and the maximum likelihood method estimate are proposed. Also, some important distributions that are used through the thesis to obtain our generalized continuous probabilistic models are explored. Chapter 2. The objective of the second chapter is to define two probabilis-tic models utilizing the odd generalized exponential (OGE) class introduced by Tahir et al. [78]. The two models are the odd generalized exponential Gompertz distribution and the odd generalized exponential linear failure rate distribu-tion. Several properties for the two models are defined in this chapter. Also, we estimate the parameters of the two models using the method of maximum likelihood and we use real data to compare between the two models and some other known distributions. Chapter 3. Our aim in this chapter is to introduce a new generalization of the flexible Weibull extension distribution called the Kumaraswamy flexible Weibull extension distribution. Several different properties for the Kumaraswamy flexible Weibull extension distribution include, the quantile function, median, mode, moments, moment generating function, measure of skewness and kurto-sis, order statistics, mean time to failure(MTTF), mean residual lifetime (MRL) and the mean past lifetime (MPL) are studied in this chapter. Moreover, maxi-mum likelihood estimation of the parameters is also determined in this chapter. Finally, an application of Kumaraswamy flexible Weibull extension distribution using a real data set is presented. Chapter 4. The fourth chapter introduces the bivariate odd generalized expo-nential linear failure rate distribution. Also, we study several properties of the model and we estimate the model parameters using the method of maximum likelihood. Chapter 5. In chapter five, we summarize what we achieved in this thesis also, we indicate briefly further extensions that can be a subject of research topics
