Abstract Heterotopic ossification after hip arthroplasty is a common complication which my lead to functional impairment and joint ankylosis. Prophylactic treatment has variable methods; pharmacological treatment or radiotherapy or both. We searched PubMed database to identify RCTs, prospective, retrospective trials over post operative treatments. 12 studies are included in this systematic review. They include the usage of NSAIDs (selective Cox2 inhibitors or non selective Cox2 inhibitors or radiotherapy or combination regimens). No clinical difference between different regimens, however they should be tailored according to pt and facilities. |
