Abstract PRIMARY liver cancer, mostly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), is a global health problem and very complex disease that needs advanced management and treatment (Bishayee et al. 2010). It is the most common malignant tumor found among men between the ages of 40 and 59 yrs (Subramaniam et al. 2013). it is the fifth and seventh most common cancer in men and women, respectively, and the third most common cause of cancer death worldwide (Li et al. 2015) ,with 80% of cases occurring in Southeast Asia countries like china, hong kong, and japan (Sudhakaran et al. 2014). According to WHO Organization, the global burden of HCC, especially in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia, is expected to rise, and by 2030 it is predicted to account for the second highest increase in cancer-related death rates ( Li et al. 2015). HCC is an aggressive hepatic neoplasm that commonly affects adults. Its incidence accounts for one million deaths annually worldwide (Ito et al. 2006). Hepatocarcinogenesis is a multistep process that involves genetic alterations lead to malignant transformation of hepatocyte. Early hepatocyte carcinoma is silent and slow growing with few symptoms until very late in disease (Robert 2006). |
