Abstract Hospital occupational health services have been appendages to the administrative rather than the clinical structure of the hospital and have never enjoyed the level of commitment extended to other hospital units. The aim of this study was to evaluate the adequacy of available health services for Ain Shams University hospital workers and to evaluate the quality of environmental health in the different department of the hospital so as to propose a program for occupational and environmental health and safety An interview questionnaire and check list were used to assess the current situation of occupational and environmental health services In Ain Shams UniversityHospitals The study revealed that preventive health service in Ain Shams University Hospitals is not well carried for hospital workers, pre-employment examination is not done routinely especially for junior nurses, periodic medical examination is carried out for a limited number of workers in tow units only radiation unit and workers in the kitchen.The study also showed that there is deficiency of health education for workers about occupational and environmental hazards and training on ergonomics.The study revealed lack of vaccination schedule for hospital workers and absence of definite strategy for vaccination As regards curative services the study revealed absence of occupational health clinic and absence of occupational medicine specialist in the hospital |
