Abstract Psychiatric nurses had the highest rate of psychosocial risks that involves dealing with patients suffering from severe mental disorders, and aggressive and violent patient may affect the mental health of nurses and quality of care provided. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of psychosocial risks and work-related stress on mental well-being of nurses‟ working in psychiatric hospitals. A descriptive correlation design was utilized in this study. Convenience sample consisted of 80 psychiatric nurses were selected from Al-Abbassia Mental Health Hospital. Four Tools were used to measure the current study variables, socio-demographic data sheet, Copenhagen psychosocial questionnaire (COPSOQ), the nursing stress scale and Well–being assessment scale. The result revealed that, there was statistically significant relation between works related stress, mental well-being and psychosocial risks. The study concluded that work-related stress and psychosocial risks play an important role and affected mental well-being of psychiatric nurses. Also, there were highly statistically significant negative correlation between work stress and level of well- being as (physical, emotional and intellectual health respectively. Research and follow-up assessment of nurses work stress to plan for managing the related problem is recommended. |
