Abstract

In this study it is intended to evaluate the use of low cost adsorbent for removal of selected heavy metal (copper) and dye (methyl orange) from aqueous solution. The thesis is divided into three main chapters from 1 to 3, introduction, experimental and results respectively. .
Chapter one: Introduction
The introduction includes brief account related to the environmental impact of different pollutants types which affect the ecosystem. This part also includes adsorption process and its types of chemisorption and physisorption. It is also containing an overview of different methods and technologies that used to reduce the environmental impact of hazardous potential of different wastes. This chapter includes the up to date literature survey covering the most aspects of aqueous waste treatment. The technologies used for the treatment of wastewater are including physical, chemical and biological. . .
Chapter two: Experimental
The experimental part is including the chemicals, equipments used and the procedures that followed throughout the work. The adsorbent (clam shell) preparation and characterization was carried out using FTIR spectra, X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The point of zero charge of the solid adsorbed was determined using drift method.
