Abstract

Solar assisted desiccant cooling system is an attractive and cost effective applicationfor air conditioning system. To find effect of dehumidification capacity on theperformance of cooling system, two modeling of solar desiccant cooling system indifferent modes of ventilation and recirculation were designed based on hot andhumid weather of Alexandria.The latent load and sensible load of the operation room were 5.2, 1.8 TR respectively.The mass flow rates of process air and regeneration air were 1.8 kg/s. Theeffectiveness of components is selected based on high efficient system because themain objective of this study is comparison between ventilation and recirculationmodes.By investigation of TRNSYS simulation results of ventilation and recirculationmodes, it was found that, amount of ventilation and recirculation COP were 0.8,and1.025 respectively. Therefore it was achieved that the recirculation solar desiccantcooling system in hot and humid area is higher efficient than the ventilation solardesiccant cooling system.
