Abstract

The study area is located in wadi Qena between Latitudes 26° 15’ 00” and
27° 14’ 00” N and Longitudes 32° 41’ 00” and 33° 08’ 00” E. Wadi Qena
is one of the Eastern Desert wadis which begins from the Southern Galala
Plateau and ends at the River Nile at Qena City.
The present work aims to identify the main aquifers in the study
area and its characteristics. Ten groundwater wells have been sampled to
study groundwater quality so we can detect the suitable water uses. The
study area is one of the most promising areas to serve as an extension of
the cultivated land of Egypt.
To achieve the purposes of this study, geophysical and
hydrogeological studies have been executed. Measurements of 54 vertical
electrical sounding (VES) have been used. The interpretation of these
vertical electrical soundings (VESes), geoelectric profiles, identifying the
different geoelectrical units and the probable water-bearing ones and the
effect of the structures on the continuity of the groundwater aquifers were
done.
The deduced geophysical results were correlated with the data obtained
