The study dealt with environmental development in Taiz Governorate, Repu bl ic of Yemen.
It aims to identi fying the human and natural resources in th is area, studying samples from the
environmental devel opment, identifying the obstacles of this environment and finding the
suitabl e solutions for raising the standard of living and the income of the population.
The importance of this study consists in its relation with the regional planning and setting the
future designs to develop the governorate to suit the available environmental resources and taki ng
environmental decisions on scientific bases in order to tackl e development cases and achieving
distribution justice among the directorates of study zone, In addition to study this specialization
in Taiz Governorate.
The study achieved its aims via m1xmg some of these approaches and sometimes using one approach
such as: the regional approach, deductive approach and ecosystem approach. The researcher used
some methods such as: the statisti cal quan t iti es method through applyi ng some equations, and
ca1iograph y method using canvas, and Corel draw 12 to draw the study maps and some geograph i ca l
information systems such as: Dem, Idris 32, and Ilwis30. Stat isti cal Data were col l
ected from govern men ta l i nsti tutions and the quest i onnai re was analyzed and photograph i c
pictures were taken for the study phenomena.
The study consists of an introduction, five chapters, begins by introd ucti on and ended by
conclusion. The researcher in the first chapter hand l ed the natural environmental resources of
Taiz Governorate via Geographical Site, geological composi t i on, topograph ic rel ief, cl imate,
water resou rces, pl ants, and wi ld animal s and birds. The second chapter dealt with the human
environmen t resou rces such as:
population and their demographic characteristic, ecc,momic activicy in the govemorafo - - and in
·it. The third chapter dealt with environmental development samples such as: development of water
resources, agricultural development, industrial development,
tourist and architectural development, and the development of mineral resources. The

fourth chapter dealt with the obstacles that hinder the environmental development at the study zone
in the following fields: development of water resources, agricultural development, industrial
development, tourist and architectural development and the development of mineral resources. The
fifth chapter dealt with the role of Government in support of environmental development in Taiz
Govemorate and setting suitable solutions for these developments with concentration on the
environmental development pivots. In the end the researcher handled the study results through which
some recommendations are being formed to improve and raise the efficiency of environmental
development in Taiz Govemorate.
