المستخلص

Circadian periodicity is a phenomenon common to most biological processes. Such periodicity therefore accompanies many pathophysiological mechanisms as well. A study of this aspect of disturbance could well lead to a deeper understanding of the disease process itself, which might in turn lead to an enrichment of therapeutic strategies. The circadian system, including the SCN in the hypothalamus and circadian oscillators in peripheral tissues, orchestrates endogenous circadian rhythms in physiology and behavior. Circadian rhythms are endogenous rhythms with a periodicity of approximately 24 hours. These rhythms are synchronized to the physical environment by various photic and nonphotic stimuli.
