Abstract

This thesis aims to examine the therapeutic capacity of bone marrow stem cells in diabetic rats. Thesis contains five chapters divided as follow: 1. Introduction: contains explanation of objective research and therapeutic capacity of mesenchymal stem cell (MSCs) in diabetic rats and try to repair the damaged by diabetes in pancreas, liver and kidney functions and blood of rats using physiological and immunological measurements. 2. Purpose of search: content about installation and function of the pancreas and the devastating impact of diabetes and reviewed a lot of information about stem cells and their role in treating diabetes and also made about the importance of stem cells and their uses and types and sources obtained from previous references and publications. 3. Materials and methods: the rats are animals were divided into four groups (control group and a stem and a diabetes and stem cell therapy group after diabetes and clarified way to isolate mesenchymal stem cells, way to isolate the mononuclear cells from whole blood samples and methods for estimating glucose and many immunological, biochemical and histopathological of pancreas and kidney. 4. Results: The obtained results revealed that diabetes caused bad effects on the blood picture, lipid profile, glycosylated hemoglobin, glucose -6-phosphate dehydrogenase and kidney functions, as well as the immune system represented by TNF. Treatment the diabetic rats by MSCs engrafting improved the tested parameters towards the stats of normal case. 5. Discussion: diabetes mellitus can be characterized as a gathering of metabolic maladies described by hyperglycemia coming because of imperfections in insulin release, insulin activity or both, bringing about impeded function in lipid, carbohydrate and protein digestion metabolism. Results revealed that diabetes caused bad effects on the blood picture, pancreas and kidney functions, as well as the immune system represented by TNF. Treatment the diabetic rats by MSCs engrafting improved the tested parameters towards the stats of normal case.
